In addition, these chaps are crafted with a belt in the front and a laced back-panel that can be tightened or expanded to accommodate a wide range of waist sizes. Every ounce of weight is equivalent to 1/64 thickness. The weight of leather is determined by the number of ounces that one square foot of leather weighs. For example, if a square foot of leather weighs four ounces, it is called 4 oz leather. 4 oz leather is approximately 1/16-inch or 1.6 mm thick.
