Leather Motorcycle Grip Covers How to Install Leather Motorcycle Grip Covers

  1. Although it's not absolutely necessary, we recommend putting several strips of double sided tape around the grip to prevent the motorcycle grip covers from sliding off the ends over time. Once your tape is in place, wrap your leather grip cover around the grip in the position that you believe will be most comfortable for your hand.
  2. Begin lacing from the end of the Grip Cover closest to the center of the bike, working your way to the outside end.
  3. Pull the lace through the first hole on each side of the motorcycle grip covers and cross over to the next holes (just like lacing your shoe). It is easier and safer to make each "crossover" snug as you go, rather than loosely lacing the cover, then pulling on the ends to cinch up the whole cover. DO NOT OVER-STRESS THE HOLES WHEN LACING THEM TO THE GRIP! You should be able to get a pretty snug fit, but if you over-tighten the lacing during installation, you may tear a hole. Go ahead and tighten the grip covers up, but just be careful!
  4. We've shaped the ends of the lace to make it easier to fit through the holes, but if they aren't pointed enough, you'll want to make them so. Use needle nosed pliers or tweezers to help pull the laces through the holes of the motorcycle grip covers.
  5. Now to tie the lace ends. Some people simply tie the lace ends in a single or double overhand knot. Some people let the excess lacing hang, while others cut the excess off. Yet another method is to cross-wrap the lacing around to the front of the leather grip covers and tie it off there.

If you discover a small gap between the edges of the cover after installation, don't be alarmed; that should help ensure a tight fit. If the edges meet perfectly before lacing or slightly overlap, the contact cement application will help keep them in place perfectly!
